Ballast Resistor Jaguar Triumph GT6 Stag 47222. New ballast resistor 1.6 OHM Lucas type 47222 use with Lucas DLB102 coil or DLB110
Ceramic ballast resistor as used in some ignition circuits where the ignition coil is less than 12 volts; the ballast resistor brings the voltage down to compensate for the lower working voltage of the coil. When the ignition key is turned to “start”, the resistor is shorted out, giving the coil the full 12 volts and therefor a much hotter spark. When the ignition key is released the current has to flow through the resistor to give the coil its working voltage. An engine that starts readily but stops when the key is released, often has a defective resistor.
