Smith Gearbox Angle Drive 1H3131 Premium German made. These are the very best available. Many reproductions tend to explode into pieces or strip the internal gears. Original these were manufactured by Smiths Industries UK and there are many overseas replicas available which just don’t last.

Sports and Classics not only sells parts but have used these superior European drives in cars we restore. Factory part BMC number reference 1H3131 and 13H2567.

These were fitted to models with overdrive and include the correct spacer washer as indicated by BMC in their service bulletin.

IMPORTANT Unit must be lightly greased prior to installation do not use oil on drives or cables. Smiths recommends Castrol LM grease ie lithium based or Esso 119. Important do not over tighten cable. Some cables internal core drives are too long and cause damage to speedo from excess pressure. Resulting in your rebuilding the speedo.
