These caps are the same design as offered by BMC and Donald Healey Motors during the early 1960’s. Part of their performance options. They were also offered by Speedwell. Beautiful polished chrome finish over a light alloy. Complete with brass collar mounting ring.
Alloy Flip ( Quick Release Lever) Cap is aluminum chrome polished finish 3 inch diameter cap overall length including lever 4 1/8. The threaded portion of the cap is 2.5 inches with 16 TPI. We have also included a brass adapter ring which reduces the flange top 2 1/4 inches allowing installation to any of the following gas tubes. Austin Healey 100-6, 3000, MGB MGB-GT MGC & MGC-GT 1963-1968, early Mini, Sprite including Bugeye 1958-1968, MG Midget 61-68. Cap can also be adapted to MGA however additional work is required to modify the gas tube. Installation of the adapter ring with epoxy or solder. Tube must be removed from your vehicle when installing adapter ring if soldering. If unsure consult your mechanic for assistance. Vented cap

This cap will fit other early model sports cars. You need to check the flange where your existing cap mounts. The cap has a 2 1/2 inch opening threaded. With the adapter the opening can be reduced to 2 1/4. See our photos. The gas tube is from an Austin Healey 3000 MK3. The flange where the adapter ring is slightly less than 2 1/4. Using the brass adapter ring we have soldered the ring (or epoxy) to the top of the filler tube . This allows for the cap to be directly threaded on to the filler pipe. This tube size is fairly standard on British sports cars pre 1969. Please remove your existing cap an measure prior to ordering to insure this cap will adapt to your vehicle. Some models will require slight relief of brass collar to obtain proper fit.
We also recently fitted this cap and adapter to an MGA. In this case we removed the tube from the vehicle. Removed the existing cap then installed the brass ring from the underside of the filler and soldered in place. A young mechanic could not quite understand the installation so we have to do it for him. Bring back technical schools!
